  • This course is offered for the Department of Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology to provide fundamental knowledge of biochemistry relevant to patient care and surgical procedures.
  • Introduces the fundamental concepts of biochemistry related to human body functions.
  • Explains the structure and functions of enzymes and co-enzymes involved in metabolic reactions.
  • Provides basic knowledge of glucose metabolism and the urea cycle in energy and nitrogen metabolism.
  • Describes the classification and functions of proteins and lipids in the human body.
  • Discusses the role of vitamins, minerals, and nutritional factors, including BMR, RQ, SDA, and balanced diet.
  • Explains acid base balance, pH, buffers, and blood gas analysis relevant to clinical applications.
