      People wear new clothes and visit temples to pray for happiness and success. They also greet each other by saying “Puthandu Vazthukal,” which means “Happy New Year” in Tamil. Elders give blessings and sometimes gifts or money to children.

      A special dish called “Mangai Pachadi” is prepared on this day. It is made using raw mango, jaggery, neem flowers, and spices. This dish has different tastes like sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy. These flavors represent the different emotions in life and remind people to accept both good and bad times.

      Tamil New Year is not just a festival but a time for families to come together and celebrate with joy. It teaches values like hope, positivity, and respect for traditions. Overall, it is a colorful and meaningful festival that brings happiness and a fresh start to everyone.
