Case Study on Sampling Distribution
Case Study Scenario
Problem Statement
A university wants to analyze the average marks of students in a Statistics course.
The total number of students in the university is 5000.
Since collecting marks from every student is difficult, the researcher selects random samples and studies their averages.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Population Size (N) | 5000 students |
| Population Mean (μ) | 70 marks |
| Population Standard Deviation (σ) | 12 marks |
Sampling Process
The researcher randomly selects samples of:
- Sample Size = 36 students
- Number of Samples = 100
For each sample, the mean marks are calculated.
These sample means form the sampling distribution of the sample mean.
