UNIT I – MOS TRANSISTOR PRINCIPLE

CMOS fabrication – p-well process, n-well process, twin-tub process, MOS transistor theory-IV characteristics, Non-ideal IV effects, CMOS inverter -DC characteristics, Technology Scaling, power consumption.

UNIT II COMBINATIONAL LOGIC CIRCUITS

Propagation Delays, stick diagram, Layout diagrams, Examples of combinational logic design, Elmore൙s constant, Static Logic Gates, Dynamic Logic Gates, Pass Transistor Logic, Power Dissipation, Low Power
Design principles.

UNIT III SEQUENTIAL LOGIC CIRCUITS

Static Latches and Registers, Dynamic Latches and Registers, Pipelines, clock strategies, Low power memory circuits, Synchronous design, Asynchronous design.

UNIT IV MEMORY ARCHITECTURE AND ARITHMETIC CIRCUITS

Sequential digital circuits: adders, multipliers, comparators, shift registers. Logic Implementation using Programmable Devices (ROM, PLA, FPGA), Memory Architecture and Building Blocks, Memory Core and Memory Peripherals Circuitry

UNIT V SPECIFICATION USING VERILOG HDL

Basic concepts- identifiers- gate primitives, gate delays, operators, timing controls, procedural assignments conditional statements, Design hierarchies, Test benches, Examples: comparator, priority encoder, full adder, Ripple carry adder and D flip flop.
